How often should I practice as a beginner to see improvement?

Depends on a players time schedule but the more work you put in the better you will get. I would recommend a minimum of 1 practice session a week but I understand people have busy lives so its all about what you can actually commit too.

Comfortable clothing, trainers if you don’t have golf shoes and if you have golf clubs feel free to bring them- if not I can provide any equipment needed.

Relax and don’t put any pressure on yourself!

We have an undercover range so no matter what the weather we can also do a lesson.

What are common mistakes to avoid as a beginner golfer?

Taking on too much advice from their friends, watching a lot of YouTube swing tip videos. We only want to be having 2 things at a time we want to be focusing on and you can take on too much information which is bad for development. Also just relax and enjoy it...everyone has to start somewhere. Be patient with your learning process as it takes time!

How long does it take for a beginner to feel comfortable playing on a golf course?

This is very varied from player to player some people it could be within a month other players might take a year.

On the Course...

Can I start playing on a golf course as a beginner, or should I stick to the driving range?

I would recommend having a PGA professional assess your game that you are good enough to play on a full 18 hole course. On a par 3 course or pitch and putt course you can get out after a few lessons.

What is the etiquette for beginners on a golf course?

There is a lot of things to cover here which is best done with a PGA professional.

How can I overcome nervousness or anxiety when starting to play golf?

Golf is a game at the end of the day and it's meant to be fun, so you always have to keep that in your mind. Too many people worry about what others will think of them, I like a player to relax and we don’t put any pressure on them.

Everyone has to start somewhere and from what I have found is that other golfers are very encouraging of each other. I find new golfers have this idea that everyone is amazing and no one hits bad shots they are very wrong! Even the best players in the world hit bad shots so just enjoy the process.

The great thing at Slinfold we have a par 3 course which I like to get beginner golfers to start on and get a taste for playing on the course before they are ready for the main course.

How long does an on-course playing lesson typically last?

Can I choose the golf course for on-course playing lessons?
